Welsh Springers are extrememly versatile dogs, both
in the field for which they were bred, as gun-dogs, and in other arenas
more familiar for the modern dog-lover.
As well as performing remarkably well on many occasions in the show-ring,
given that they are one of the less well-known Gundog breeds, often
achieving 'Group' and occasionally even Best In Show awards, Welshies
are worth the effort it takes to train them for other canine activities
and sports. Their cheerful disposition makes them a joy to watch working,
but to reach that standard, they do require patience and a sense of
humour in their handlers to weather the highs and lows that come with
a dog of such energy and character.
Members dogs from this club are pictured below competing in Conformation,
Tracking, Obedience, Agility, Retrieving and Endurance.
Welshies are also a great help in the kitchen and around
the home, being natural re-cyclers, don't mind at all getting their
hands dirty in the garden, are excellent child-minders, lap-warmers,
and general busy-bodies, but with a particular fondness for any activities
involving food, and people.
They aso have a natural affinity with stretches of water, and are
perhaps at their most joyful in that element, whether it be the family
swimming pool, the muddiest of farm dams, or the ocean.
Welshies celebrate life and all that
it offers :
